The information below will take you through the steps for a successful commencement experience. Graduates should also reference the graduation checklist. If you have any questions, please email Nancy Guild.
All parking will be in the main parking lots adjacent to the soccer field unless you have special needs for yourself or passengers. Shuttles will be available beginning at least one hour prior to each ceremony (i.e. wheelchair, walker, or difficulties walking a long distance).
Special needs parking will be in the Morey/SHAPE parking lots; please follow road signs. (i.e. wheelchair, walker, or difficulties walking a long distance)
We encourage you to car pool since parking is limited. Most parking will be a 5-10 minute walk from the President’s House. Handicap and assisted parking will be available. Golf cart shuttle service will be available from parking lots.
Please plan ahead for traffic congestion coming to and leaving campus. Watch for volunteers directing traffic.
Please watch the weather forecast and plan accordingly. Commencement occurs under a tent, though you will process outside – possibly in the elements – before getting to the tent. It’s generally cooler under the tent, especially in the morning. Please be prepared.
We will have interpreter services and a special section for seating for those in need of this service.
All campus shuttles will stop running 15 minutes before each ceremony.
Please leave all non-service animals at home; they will not be allowed at the site of commencement
Commencement will be held under the tent, on the lawn of the President’s House, on the Randolph Center, Vermont campus. Please refer to the department list at the top to find out when your major will be graduating.
The College maintains the expectation that all degree candidates will be appropriately attired and display acceptable standards of behavior.
Vermont Tech requests that no food or beverages other than water be brought into the tent area.
Smoking in designated areas only.
NO PETS of any kind are allowed on the campus. Please be sure any guests leave their pets at home. Certified Service Animals are allowed.
In order for your student to be eligible to particpate in Commencement they must complete the “Application to Graduate”. (See the graduation checklist for further information.)
ALL BILLS MUST BE PAID:
Please note that Vermont Tech will not release graduate diplomas or official academic transcripts if there are any outstanding financial obligations to the College.
CAPS AND GOWNS:
It is the student's responsibility to order regalia from University Cap & Gown. Students will not be permitted to participate in Commencement without appropriate regalia.
TICKETS TO THE CEREMONY:
Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony.
The College Bookstore will be open one hour before and after each ceremony for your shopping pleasure.
GradImages provides the photography services at the Commencement ceremony. Proofs will be available online or through the mail. There is no obligation to buy. Graduates are required to complete a readers card prior to the Commencement ceremony. These cards are used by the company to send proofs.
To be eligible for graduation honors, a degree student must:
Cum laude: 3.5
Magna cum laude: 3.7
Summa cum laude: 3.9
To be eligible for graduation honors, a certificate student must:
High Honors: 3.5 or above
